Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 9, 2026

These terms apply to the Beatori game, its website and its online services. The English text is the binding version.

The agreement

By creating an account or using Beatori's online services you accept these terms and the privacy policy. Beatori is in a closed beta: features change, some will have faults, and while the beta lasts we may reset scores, progress or balances when the game needs it. We announce resets in advance whenever we can.

Accounts

  • You must be at least 13, and old enough in your country to agree to these terms or have a parent or guardian's consent.
  • One account per person. Keep your password and two-factor codes to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Beta keys are personal invitations. Do not sell or trade them.
  • Usernames and profiles must not impersonate others or break the conduct rules below.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

Fair play

Ranked scores, leaderboards and multiplayer must reflect your own play. Do not use bots, macros, auto-players, modified or unofficial clients, or tools that change timing or input for online play; do not exploit faults, share accounts, or use extra accounts to change rankings or rewards. Beatori checks replays and plays to enforce this. Depending on the case, we may reject or remove scores, hold them for review, or suspend accounts. Every decision gives a reason, and you can appeal it.

Gems, Tokens and purchases

  • Gems and Tokens are virtual currencies that unlock content and features in Beatori. You receive a license to use them in the game; they are not money, have no value outside Beatori, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred, except through features Beatori provides for that.
  • Balances granted for free, including the balance beta accounts start with, are promotional and may be adjusted or reset at the end of the beta.
  • Digital items are delivered as soon as you buy them. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you agree to that immediate delivery when you buy, and you acknowledge that you then lose the right to withdraw from the purchase. This does not affect your rights when an item is faulty or not delivered.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds follow the law of your country and are otherwise at Beatori's discretion; contact support for any purchase problem.

User content

  • You keep ownership of the maps, skins, patterns, images, comments and other content you upload.
  • You give Beatori a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, convert, display and distribute that content in Beatori's services, for as long as it stays there, and, for published maps, to keep it available to players who already have it and with the scores set on it.
  • Upload only content you have the rights to, including the music. Unfinished maps are visible only to you and the players you invite; publishing a map makes it available to every player.
  • Beatori may review, hide or remove content that breaks these terms or the law. Copyright holders can send notices through the copyright page.

Community conduct

Do not harass, threaten or discriminate against other players; do not post sexual content involving minors, hateful content, spam, malware, or other players' personal information; do not attack, overload or probe the service. Moderators may remove messages and content and restrict chat, uploads or accounts that break these rules.

Service availability

Beatori may change, suspend or retire features, and may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Online services can be interrupted for maintenance or outages. If Beatori shuts down its online services, we will tell players in advance.

Liability and law

Beatori is provided as it is, especially during the beta. To the extent the law allows, Beatori is not liable for indirect losses, lost data or interruptions of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or the rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country.

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.

Policy updates

When these terms change in a way that matters, we tell you in the game or by email before the change applies; continuing to use Beatori afterwards means you accept the new terms.

Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

This policy explains what Beatori collects when you use the game, the website and their online services, why, and the choices you have. The English text is the binding version.

Who we are

Beatori, Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal, is the controller of the personal data described here. Beatori is in a closed beta: features, and the data they need, can change, and this page changes with them.

Account data

  • Account: username, display name, email address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), two-factor authentication secrets (encrypted), the beta key you registered with, and the country your connection came from at registration.
  • Profile and social: avatar, banner, the cosmetics you equip, friends and friend requests, blocked players, chat and direct messages, your online presence and the presence mode you choose (including appearing offline), and notification preferences.
  • Purchases: what you bought, Gems and Tokens balances and their transaction history, and the payment provider's references. Card details go directly to Stripe; Beatori never receives them.
  • Uploads: maps, songs, skins, patterns, playlists and images you upload, who you invited to an unfinished map, and the moderation decisions about them.
  • Support: what you send us in support requests and appeals.

Gameplay and Ranking Data

  • Scores and replays: each online play's result and its replay: your key presses and releases with their timing, the chart, mods and rate, scroll speed, offsets, keybinds, skin, whether you played with a keyboard or touch, the game version and platform.
  • Progress: levels, Dan results, missions, achievements, multiplayer matches and lobby history.
  • Fair play: to protect ranked play, the game reports the SHA-256 hash of its own executable, the hashes of the modules loaded into it (not their names or contents), whether a debugger is attached, and a hashed installation identifier. These are compared with other plays and accounts to detect cheating; they never decide a ban on their own.
  • Diagnostics: while you are signed in, the game reports when a session starts and ends, how long it lasted, and crashes with their reason, together with the game version and platform, so faults can be found and fixed.

Your settings, offline scores, play statistics, downloaded songs and skins stay on your device, in the game's app-data folder, unless you export them.

Why we use it

  • To provide the service you signed up for (contract): your account, online play, leaderboards, multiplayer, chat, uploads, purchases and their delivery.
  • For fair play and security (legitimate interests): detecting cheating, account sharing and abuse, rate-limiting, keeping the service running and finding and fixing faults.
  • With your consent: optional notification emails. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings.
  • To meet legal obligations: keeping purchase and accounting records, and answering lawful requests.

Beatori does not sell personal data, does not show third-party advertising, and does not use your data to profile you for advertising.

What other players see

Your username, display name, avatar, banner, country flag, scores, replays, ranks, levels, achievements and published uploads are public, on the website and in the game. Friends see your online presence unless you appear offline. Unfinished maps are visible only to you and the players you invite. Messages are visible to their recipients and the channel's members.

Service providers

These companies process data on Beatori's behalf, under contracts that limit them to that purpose:

  • Cloudflare: network delivery, security and storage of uploaded files and downloads.
  • Amazon Web Services: sending email (Amazon SES) and screening uploaded images for prohibited content (Amazon Rekognition).
  • Stripe: payment processing.
  • Google reCAPTCHA: bot protection on registration and account recovery; Google processes your browser and interaction data on those pages under its own privacy policy.
  • Our hosting provider: the servers that run the database and the API.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decisions (including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or its standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Account, profile, scores, replays and uploads: while your account exists.
  • Expired sign-in sessions: 7 days after they expire.
  • Notifications: 90 days after you read them; unread ones up to 365 days.
  • Map-editor chat: the latest 50 messages of each editing session.
  • Server logs, which include IP addresses: rotated within days. IP addresses are used for rate limits and abuse protection and are not stored with your account.
  • Purchase, payment and accounting records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after the account is deleted.

Deleting your account removes your profile and personal details and anonymizes what must stay for the integrity of other players' records, such as multiplayer results, and for legal obligations.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent. In the game and on the website, Settings lets you export your account data and delete your account; for anything else, write to us. We answer within one month. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Portugal, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (cnpd.pt).

Beatori is not meant for children under 13. A player below the age of digital consent in their country needs a parent or guardian's consent to create an account.

Website usage

The website uses only cookies it needs: your sign-in session, security tokens that protect forms, and your preferences. It uses no analytics or advertising cookies. The registration and account-recovery pages load Google reCAPTCHA, which sets its own cookies.

Contact

Privacy requests, data exports and deletion questions can be sent to [email protected]. Signed-in players can also export or delete their account from Settings. When this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the game or by email before the change applies.
